PKR Internet Offers New Taskjitsu Support Solutions

ARLINGTON, Virginia May 11th, 2006 PKR Internet today announced new commercial offerings for installation, support and customization of Taskjitsu, their open source project management software. The installation support package includes everything needed to get Taskjitsu installed and configured to suit a particular businesses needs. Training is also included to help maximize the benefit Taskjitsu can provide in productivity and customer responsiveness. For organizations that need modifications but don't have the internal bandwidth for additional projects, PKR Internet can provide custom development, integration with external accounting systems, and support contracts.

Taskjitsu helps software developers and other organizations to track both tasks and time. Managers use this web-based system to break down projects into tasks to delegate to workers in an organization. Employees use Taskjitsu to track their time per task or per project. Customers and the general public can use the system to report bugs or initiate support incidents.

"Integrating new project management software into a development process can be challenging" says Richard Bullington, Managing Member of PKR Internet. "We are very pleased to offer support options that make it much easier for companies to take advantage of Taskjitsu's time saving features."

Taskjitsu 2.0.1, the first maintenance release of the software, is available from http://www.pkrinternet.com/taskjitsu5-download.shtml. This release offers installation and security improvements over Taskjitsu 2.0, released in October 2005. Planned future releases will offer new features.

Taskjitsu Kicks Productivity Into High Gear

PKR Internet is pleased to announce the launch of its free, web-based task tracking and time accounting software, Taskjitsu. Taskjitsu's motto is The Art and Science of Tasks and Time; its aim is to help organizations track their productivity. The system has been in production since 1997 and offers multiple options for configuring and tailoring an installation to support the needs of diverse organizations.

Managing Partner Richard Bullington-McGuire says "We've used Taskjitsu internally for years to track our assignments. It has helped us keep our projects under control, while allowing us flexibility in tracking both payroll and customer billing. Releasing Taskjitsu as Open Source software allows other organizations to reap the same benefits as we have."

Designer Kirstin Nickerson has worked hard to make Taskjitsu look, feel, and function identically across multiple platforms, using simple and straightforward methods to make the system as easily adapted and maintained as possible. Kirstin says "Our goal is to help you make it as easy as possible for employees to keep track of their time and tasks, and for managers to satisfy their employees and clients."

Developer LuLu Howard applied her extensive programming experience toward creating a pared-down system low on bloat and high on functionality. Says LuLu "Taskjitsu uses the latest Open Source technology. It is organized using established J2EE Patterns and a Model/View/Controller philosophy. Each tier is an independent entity from the next, so changing the data level does not require a change to the user interface level. This means that your UI development under Taskjitsu can happen concurrently with the Data Access development. It is a technically robust system."

Taskjitsu is free software, available under the GNU General Public License. PKR Internet provides commercial support for Taskjitsu, including software installation, maintenance, customization, hosting, and training.

Taskjitsu helps track tasks, worker time, and billing information: it is both a task tracking system and a time accounting system, and supports reporting for project management, payroll, customer billing, and task metrics purposes. Taskjitsu uses role-based security to ensure that users have only as much access to the system as they need.

Companies using Taskjitsu will experience more effective customer problem tracking, ensuring quick issue resolution, transparency, and accountability to both management and the customer. Taskjitsu facilitates efficient use of resources, by highlighting cases where too much time is spent on meetings or rework.
